Wedgwood interactive whiteboard
guide
Interactive whiteboards are used with a computer or
laptop and a projector to create up to a
96-inch touch screen
display. You can write, draw, make notes and
annotations directly onto the whiteboard using either finger
or pen and your work is then
saved onto your PC or laptop, which can then printed out, emailed or
stored on your school or business PC or server.
Dual touch interactive whiteboards are now available, which allow
two people to use the board at the same time, for instance, Hitachi
FX Duoboards.

used to writing with a pen, secondary education, colleges,
universities and businesses for training or in conjunction with
video conferencing over the Internet. Hard surface boards that are
less likely to damage, for instance, Promethean Activboards,
PolyVision eno Comparison

Promethean (pen) have both brought out all-in-one boards that come

Portable
whiteboard systems
Devices are available, that when attached to side of dry-wipe
whiteboards or metal boards, capture an area 8 x 4-feet or 9 x
5-feet, depending on make and model. Your work is then saved
onto your computer, for inclusion in documents or distributing by
email, etc.
Some of these devices do not need a projector, others do. In
the UK the most popular makes are
eBeam and mimio.
These devices are ideal for education to turn standard dry-wipe
whiteboards into interactive whiteboards, or for business presenters
on the road, who want a portable interactive solution, e.g. their
laptop, ultra portable projector and eBeam or mimio.

Interactive panels, wireless tablets and pads
Some manufacturers simply produce whiteboards, others offer
interactive products that complement their whiteboards.
Interactive panels allow you to face the audience and see what
you are writing for example at a desk or
lectern.
Panels are ideal for
doctors and paramedics to discuss notes with patients, police and
also emergency service on-the-road use.
Wireless tablets are ideal for teachers and presenters who like
to move around the room.

Interactive voting systems
Voting systems or personal response systems as they are
also known, have the advantage of keeping track of class attendance,
cutting down truancy and freeing teachers from marking, whilst
adding fun and interactivity into lessons and mock exams. Each
pupil or student answers questions through an infrared or radio
frequency handset, and the receiver collates, marks and assesses
results instantly. Comparison

Plasma touch screens
Plasma screens can become interactive with the use of a
plasma screen overlay. You will have the cost of the plasma and the
overlay, which needs to be measured against the cost of
interactive whiteboards with an
average size of 77-inch, and a
projector.
